07/16/10 | by Karly Friesen [mail] | Categories: News

On June 10, 2010 Water for People handed out it's annual Kenneth J. Miller Founders' Awards. This award recognizes volunteers who show outstanding service to the efforts of Water for People. Doug Campbellwas the recipient for the Wester Canada Section of the American Water Works Association. Doug is the manager of the Water Treatment Plant in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He has been an operator since 1982 and has served as manager for 11 years. Doug has been an active member the Water for People committee since 1996 and has spent countless hours organizing and running silent auctions at the MWWA Annual Conferences where all the profits go to Water for People. Doug says he is quite honoured to be recognized but maintains that this award is more for the people who have donated to the auctions and have contributed to the cause of bringing clean drinking water to people of the world.  Check out the Water for People website to see the names of the other recipients- or to donate to this great organization at www.waterforpeople.org.
